Job summary
Legal & General is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Group Protection technology team in the UK. You will help shape and deliver modern cloud-based solutions across the full software delivery lifecycle and mentor others to elevate engineering excellence.
You'll collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions while promoting secure development practices and robust operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Strong commercial experience developing software using Java and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience building and supporting RESTful microservices in Spring Boot, Node.js or similar frameworks.
- Solid understanding of cloud technologies, ideally Azure.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices (GitHub Actions).
- Strong knowledge of design principles, clean architecture and test-driven development.
- Experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and stakeholder management.
- Experience mentoring engineers and promoting collaborative engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Owning and evolving services and applications across their full lifecycle.
- Collaborating with product owners and stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
- Designing, developing and deploying scalable applications using modern engineering practices.
- Driving quality through automated testing, observability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leading technical problem-solving and supporting incident investigation and resolution.
- Championing secure software development practices and engineering best practice.
- Mentoring and coaching engineers to strengthen team capability and technical excellence.
- Contributing to architectural decisions, reducing technical debt and improving platform sustainability.
