The Ophthalmology Department at a leading NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Band 3 Clinical Support Worker. The role involves supporting patient care in various ophthalmic clinics, conducting assessments, and assisting in theatre operations. Ideal candidates will receive specialized training and be integral to delivering high-quality ophthalmic care.
The Ophthalmology Department cares for patients of all ages attending a wide range of ophthalmic clinics. We have Doctor/Nurse led clinics on all sites. There is currently a vacancy for a 24 hour part-time Band 3 Clinical Support Worker Post at Furness General Hospital.
Within this post, you will work in general Ophthalmology clinics and specialised ophthalmic clinics, conduct preoperative assessments, and support the organisation and running of theatre lists on a day-to-day basis. This provides an opportunity to cover all aspects of Ophthalmic Care.
You will undergo in-house training specialising in Ophthalmic Nursing care and are expected to complete the ophthalmic competencies required to work in the department.
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practices, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI offer a range of hospital services including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and outpatient care for non-life-threatening conditions.
All hospitals provide planned care such as outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgeries. Additionally, community services for adults are delivered in homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, and community hospitals, aiming to help individuals remain independent and manage their health conditions with high-quality care, advice, and support.
