University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay is seeking a support worker to assist Registered Nurses in delivering personalized patient care. The role includes providing personal hygiene, monitoring patient comfort, and aiding in basic clinical duties. This position offers an opportunity to work within a caring, team-oriented environment, providing essential support to patients and playing a critical role in their recovery. Candidates should have prior experience in a clinical setting and ideally hold a Care Certificate or equivalent.

Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing personal care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse. Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records. Carry out a limited range of
clinical care duties and supervise the work of others.
1.Work as an effective team member within the multidisciplinary team and support continued team development in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well being of patients.
2. Assist the Registered nurse (RN) in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
3. Determine the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
4. Assist in providing personal hygiene of patients who are unable to do so themselves, including washing, bathing and assistance with using the toilet. Assessing patients' health safety and wellbeing, escalating to appropriate colleagues if required.
5. Assist in feeding/ giving drinks to patients who are unable to do so for themselves and complete food and fluid charts where necessary.
6. Ensure patient dignity supporting patients with tact, empathy, and persuasion.
7. Report any changes in patient condition to the RN.
8. Act as an effective role model for all team/unit colleagues
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
