Job description

The postholder will provide expert advice and support to Borough and Clinical Directors, Service Managers, and Heads of Service on patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and quality of care. The focus will be on ensuring incidents and patient feedback are reported, reviewed, and shared for learning in line with best practices.

The role involves supporting a dynamic portfolio of clinical governance, patient safety, and patient feedback services to implement the West London NHS Trust Quality and Patient Safety Strategy and comply with relevant policies and statutory requirements.

Working collaboratively within the Clinical Governance Team, the postholder will deliver expert patient safety and experience support specifically to Hounslow Borough mental health services. Additionally, the role requires working across boroughs and service lines, leading key Trust-wide clinical governance projects as directed by their line manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the primary support point for all clinical governance issues related to their service line(s).
  2. Promote safe and effective clinical practice through close collaboration with clinical teams and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
  3. Support clinical service lines with timely incident and complaint reporting and investigations, following Trust policies.
  4. Participate as an expert panel member in incident reviews or complaint investigations as required.
  5. Assist borough/clinical service lines with PSII reviews and investigations within agreed timeframes, escalating delays appropriately.
  6. Work with service lines to ensure learning from PSII reviews is shared and implemented.
  7. Facilitate After Action Reviews, ensuring completion within set timeframes and escalating as needed.
  8. Analyze clinical governance data to produce reports demonstrating learning outcomes and risk reduction.
