Job description

The Occupational Therapist will provide expert advice and support to Borough and Clinical Directors, Service Managers, and Heads of Service on patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and quality of care delivery. The role emphasizes ensuring incidents and patient feedback are reported, reviewed, and shared for learning in accordance with best practices.

The post supports a dynamic portfolio of clinical governance, patient safety, and patient feedback services to deliver the West London NHS Trust's Quality and Patient Safety Strategy, adhering to related policies and statutory requirements.

Working within the larger Clinical Governance Team, the post holder will offer expert patient safety and patient experience support to Hounslow Borough mental health services. The role involves cross-borough collaboration and leading key Trust-wide clinical governance projects as directed by line management.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to:

  1. Act as a highly visible support point for all clinical governance issues related to the supported service line(s).
  2. Encourage and support safe, effective clinical practice through close collaboration with clinical teams and facilitate sharing of best practices.
  3. Support clinical service lines with timely reporting and investigation of incidents and complaints, following Trust policies.
  4. Participate as an incident review or complaint investigation panel member as required.
  5. Assist borough/clinical service lines in completing PSII reviews within agreed timeframes and escalate delays.
  6. Work with service lines to ensure outcomes of PSII reviews promote shared learning.
  7. Facilitate After Action Reviews, ensuring they are completed timely and escalate if not.
  8. Analyze clinical governance data to produce reports demonstrating learning and risk reduction.
