Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Coding Officer who will abstract and analyse complex clinical information from patient records and translate it into coded data using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 across all specialties.

You will handle enquiries from all hospital areas, contribute to trainee coder development, act as a mentor, and work as part of an experienced team.

The role requires UK NHS clinical coding experience and completed UK coding training.

Qualifications

• Experience in clinical coding within the UK NHS.
• Proven ability to abstract and analyse complex clinical data.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications.
• Experience mentoring trainees is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and analyse clinical data from patient records for coding.
• Translate information into ICD-10/OPCS-4 codes.
• Handle enquiries across hospital and support trainees.
• Enter coded data into computer systems and resolve queries with clinical staff.
