Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Clinical Coder (Band 4/5) to join the team as we integrate a new electronic patient record. You will code inpatient and day cases, ensure timely data entry, and uphold national coding standards while mentoring colleagues.

The role supports flexible working options (on site, remote or hybrid) and requires NHS accredited coder status or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• NHS Accredited Clinical Coder qualification (Band 5 role)
• GCSEs at grade C or above
• A level Biology or equivalent work experience
• Willing to attend training and coding workshops
• Good understanding of clinical coding rules

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code inpatient/day case episodes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4
• Ensure timely entry of coded data onto the Trust's information system
• Adhere to national and local clinical coding procedures
• Mentor junior coders and support team training
• Liaise with medical staff on coding queries and with other staff for access to case notes
• Attend required training and engage in data quality improvements
