Job Title: Clerk of Works

As a Clerk of Works, you will need to demonstrate the ability to undertake instructions related to building works in progress on new build residential sites.

The successful candidate will be confident in liaising with Building Contractors and preparing detailed reports for Employer’s Agents and Project Management teams.

This position covers the Cambridgeshire area, and suitable candidates should ideally reside within Cambridge/Cambridgeshire.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Verify compliance with contractual drawings, warranty standards, and employer’s requirements.
  • Prepare detailed written reports with supporting photographs and submit them in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and record defects during construction and after completion, ensuring issues are communicated and escalated appropriately.
  • Organize snagging and end-of-defect inspections with the client.
  • Maintain a good client relationship throughout the project.
  • Stay updated with building regulations and compliance standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards.
  • Thorough reporting skills and ability to escalate issues promptly.
  • Effective communication at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience in passive fire safety and re-cladding projects is desirable.
  • Experience in high-rise new build developments would be advantageous.
  • Experience using tablet-based digital inspection software.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate GB.
