Job summary

Qube Recruitment is seeking an experienced Environmental Services Team Leader / Cleaning Supervisor for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover in Grays, Essex. You will lead cleaning teams across a busy shopping centre, ensuring high standards and safe operations.

This hands-on leadership role involves rota planning, training delivery, recruitment support and close collaboration with management to maintain excellent service and compliance.

Cleaning Supervisor - 12 month Fixed Term Contract Maternity Cover

Location: Grays, Essex.

Salary: £32,240 per annum

Hours: 40

Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off (6am-6pm and 10am-10pm)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Environmental Services Team Leader/Cleaning Supervisor to join the team and take responsibility for leading and managing shift cleaning teams across the shopping centre.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll play an important part in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained across the centre, including mall areas, customer restrooms, waste facilities, car parks and external areas.

You'll be responsible for supporting the operational management team, motivating your colleagues and ensuring all environmental services are delivered safely, efficiently and to an exceptional standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and motivate shift cleaning teams to deliver consistently high standards.
• Support the Head of Department and take on management responsibilities when required.
• Ensure exceptional cleaning standards are maintained across the centre on a daily basis.
• Organise and support shift rotas, team briefings and day-to-day operational activities.
• Provide encouragement and guidance to team members, identifying training and development opportunities.
• Assist with recruitment and the onboarding and training of new team members.
• Conduct regular team briefings to communicate expectations, best practices and operational updates.
• Monitor team performance and ensure work is completed to the required quality and compliance standards.
• Respond to team member queries and assist with resolving issues effectively.
• Manage stock and materials, maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting ordering where required.
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety requirements and relevant compliance standards.
• Provide excellent customer service, including dealing professionally with customer enquiries and complaints.
• Work closely with operational management to ensure the smooth running of environmental services across the centre.
