Job summary

Shooting Stars Nurseries is seeking a reliable Cleaner/Housekeeper for the Tettenhall nursery. The role supports the nursery team by keeping all areas exceptionally clean and hygienic, contributing to a safe, welcoming environment for children, families and staff.

The position requires proven commercial cleaning experience in professional settings, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Afternoon/evening hours with annual safeguarding adherence are included.

Responsibilities

• Maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the nursery.

• Carry out housekeeping tasks including laundry, washing up and general cleaning.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cleaner/Housekeeper to join our team at Shooting Stars Tettenhall. This is an important role supporting the nursery team by maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and housekeeping throughout the setting, helping to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment for children, families and staff.

Hours of Work

• 15 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, 5:00pm – 8:00pm
• The nursery operates all year round, excluding Bank Holidays.

Previous commercial cleaning experience is essential and applications without this experience will not be considered.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience cleaning within professional environments and who understand the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Hygiene

• Maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the nursery.
• Clean all areas used by children, staff and visitors, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
• Support infection prevention and control procedures.
• Carry out housekeeping duties including laundry, washing up and general cleaning tasks.

Health and Safety

• Share responsibility for maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment.
• Follow all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Be fully aware of emergency and security procedures, including fire safety requirements.
• Implement and adhere to COSHH requirements, risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely and used correctly.

Communication and Teamwork

• Work effectively alongside the nursery team.
• Communicate appropriately with colleagues and management to ensure cleaning standards are consistently maintained.

Personal Development

• Participate in training, supervision and annual appraisal processes.
• Take responsibility for ongoing professional development relevant to the role.

General Duties

• Undertake additional duties reasonably requested by management.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.

Key Holder Responsibility

The successful candidate will be required to act as a key holder, demonstrating trustworthiness, reliability and the ability to secure the nursery premises in accordance with company procedures.
