Job summary

Gregory Distribution is seeking a safety‑minded Class 1 Driver to move palletised freight across our UK network. You will operate a curtain‑side trailer from Shepton Mallet to pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands and back, ensuring loads are safely secured and accurately verified against manifests.

You will hold a UK Class 1 (C+E) licence with DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card, and commit to excellent customer service.

• Good geographic knowledge and time‑critical deadline discipline.

Responsibilities

• Operate curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods between Shepton Mallet and pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands and back.
• Verify freight against manifests at each depot stop; ensure accurate loading and securing.
• Attend ongoing training and development sessions; keep up to date with industry standards.
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Team and colleagues.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and use securing equipment (straps, nets).
• Seek opportunities for additional qualifications such as LST and ADR during employment.

Job description

As a Class 1 Driver, you'll play a key role in the smooth, efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods from our Shepton Mallet depot to pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands, before reloading back to Shepton Mallet.
• Providing internal trunking support where required, including accurately verifying freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) and ADR during your employment.
• Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected, using straps, nets, and other appropriate securing equipment.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Team.
• Attending ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practice.
• We're looking for a professional, safety-focused driver with a strong work ethic and great communication skills:
• UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence
• Valid DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card

• Competitive Salary: £49,240.00 per annum
• Shift Hours: Monday to Friday, starting from 19:00hrs.
