Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a Class 1 Driver to join our Shepton Mallet operations. You will be responsible for moving palletised freight across our network via curtain-side trailers, with trunk runs to West Midlands hubs and back to Shepton Mallet.

You’ll carry out safety checks, verify consignments against manifests, and maintain clear communication with the Transport Team. A DCPC and UK Class 1 licence are essential, with opportunities to gain further certifications and a strong focus

• Valid DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card.

Responsibilities

• Operate a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods between Shepton Mallet and pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands, then return to Shepton Mallet.
• Verify freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Seek opportunities to gain additional certifications (e.g., LST, ADR).
• Ensure goods are loaded, secured, and protected using appropriate equipment.
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintain regular communication with the Transport Team.
• Attend ongoing training and development sessions.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you'll play a key role in the smooth, efficient movement of palletised freight across our network. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating a curtain-side trailer to trunk palletised goods from our Shepton Mallet depot to pallet-network hubs in the West Midlands, before reloading back to Shepton Mallet.
• Providing internal trunking support where required, including accurately verifying freight against the manifest at each depot stop.
• Taking advantage of opportunities to gain additional certifications, including LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) and ADR during your employment.
• Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and protected, using straps, nets, and other appropriate securing equipment.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks.
• Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Team.
• Attending ongoing training and development sessions to stay up to date with industry standards and best practice.
