Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. in Shepton Mallet (BA4 4NH) is seeking a Class 1 Driver to join its transport team. You will use curtain side or flatbed trailers to collect and deliver customer orders, ensuring loads are secured and vehicle safety checks are performed daily.

Nights away and weekend considerations are part of the role. Applicants should hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence, a valid DCPC Card, and a Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

Qualifications

• UK Class 1 CE Licence is required.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience delivering loads to client sites is a plus.
• Tanker experience is desirable but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 1 curtain side or flatbed trailer to collect and deliver goods.
• Ensure loads are secured with straps and nets to prevent movement.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks using company phone.
• Work night shifts and spend nights away as required.
• Maintain regular communication with transport team and update progress.

About the Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you will:

• Use a curtain side or flatbed trailer to collect and deliver customers products.
• Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage. Use straps, nets, and other securing devices as needed.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Experience the thrill of nights away, making each journey unique and fulfilling.
• Stay in regular communication with the transport team to provide updates on your progress and ensure our customers' expectations are met.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay ahead with the latest industry standards and best practices.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to client sites is advantageous.
• Tanker experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
• Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
