Job summary

Gi Group is hiring a Class 1 Weekend Driver based in Bedford to support a major supermarket chain. The role focuses on delivering chilled and frozen goods to stores and petrol stations, with weekend shifts and long-term commitment.

We offer progression with automatic pay rises at 12 and 27 weeks, double pay on bank holidays, enhanced holiday entitlement after 12 weeks, overtime after 45 hours, paid breaks from day one, and a monthly performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards).
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Previous store deliveries experience is preferred but not essential.
• Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences.
• Weekend availability is essential for this 24/7 operation.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages; some pallets.
• 1-3 store deliveries to supermarkets or petrol station stores.
• Operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles (Class 1 rate paid).
• Conduct thorough vehicle checks and maintain tachograph records.
• Work to clients' professional standards with coaching/training.
• Manage Working Time Directive and driving hours to meet compliance.

Salary: GBP19 - GBP49 per annum

Location: Bedford (MK43)

Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Year-round stability)

Earnings: From £19.05ph up to £49.61ph

Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets, as a Class 1 Weekend Driver. This isn't just seasonal help; we are looking for professional drivers for a long-term partnership based in, Bedford. You will play a vital role in keeping the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.

Role & Responsibilities :

• Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets
• 1-3 store deliveries , this can be tosupermarkets or petrol station stores
• Drivers must be flexible to operate Class 1and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)
• Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records.
• Drivers must drive as per clients professional standards which you will be coached and trained on
• Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement
• Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores

• Saturday & Sunday
• Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must

Class 1 Driver Requirements
