Job summary

Gi Group currently seeks a Class 1 Night Driver for Bedford, England. You will transport chilled and frozen goods to stores and petrol stations, with responsibilities including vehicle checks and tachograph documentation.

The role offers ongoing temporary work with day-to-day shifts and weekend requirements. Successful candidates will have a valid UK Class 1 licence, CPC and DIGI cards, plus 1 year of Class 1 experience.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards).
• Minimum 1 year Class 1 licence + 12 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Experience with store deliveries preferred but not essential.
• Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences; Weekend availability essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver chilled and frozen loads to stores, mostly in cages; some pallets.
• 1–3 store deliveries to supermarkets or petrol station stores.
• Operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles; always paid at Class 1 rate.
• Conduct thorough vehicle checks and accurate tachograph records.
• Adhere to client standards and be coached on professional conduct and service.
• Manage Working Time Directive and driving hours to meet compliance.

Salary: GBP22 - GBP49 per hour

Class 1 Night Driver

Location: Bedford (MK43)

Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Year-round stability)

Earnings: From £24.81 up to £49.61ph

Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets, as a Class 1 Night Driver. This isn't just seasonal help; we are looking for professional drivers for a long-term partnership client in , Bedford. You will play a vital role in keeping the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.

Role & Responsibilities :

• Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets
• 1-3 store deliveries , this can be tosupermarkets or petrol station stores
• Drivers must be flexible to operate Class 1and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)
• Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records.
• Drivers must drive as per clients professional standards which you will be coached and trained on
• Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement
• Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores

Shifts :

• Daily and Weekly Bookings
• Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must
• Weekend only work available
• Full time and part time opportunities

Class 1 Driver Requirements

• Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards)
• Minimum 1 year Class 1 licence + 12 months Class 1 driving experience
• Previous experience in store deliveries would be preferred, but is not essential
• Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences)
• Availability to work weekends is essential for this 24/7 operation
• Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
