Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd, recruiting on behalf of a well known client in Newcastle, is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 drivers (CAT C+E). The role includes collections and deliveries with up to 20 stops, loading/unloading, and using depot software to update status.

Shifts are Monday to Friday with a 09:00 start. Location is Newcastle, NE37, and the position is ongoing with PAYE pay at £15.28 per hour, rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• At least 12 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.
• Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.
• Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.
• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
