Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd is recruiting on behalf of our client based in Preston for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers (C+E). The role is Monday to Friday with an 08:30 start, located in Preston, PR2.

Pay rate is £16.36 per hour PAYE with overtime at £24.54 after 40 hours. The position is ongoing and primarily involves collections with some deliveries, plus loading/unloading at depots and customer locations. A safety-first mindset and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• At least 6 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Mainly collections with some deliveries (6-10 collections and 1-5 deliveries).
• Manual handling required for loading and unloading parcels.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely collections/deliveries.
• Operate devices and company software to update delivery status and communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Adhere to traffic laws and company policies to maintain safety.
• Communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.
• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
