Bennett & Game Recruitment Limited in Bedford is seeking a reliable Class 1 Driver to join our growing team. The role involves safely transporting telehandlers and other plant machinery to designated sites, with a focus on professional customer handovers.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, ensure loads are strapped correctly, and complete delivery documentation in line with company procedures. A valid Class 1 LGV licence, Digi Card, NPORS, and CPC are required, alongside a strong commitment

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar driver role.
• Excellent time-keeping and self-motivation.
• Digi Card holder.
• LGV Licence category C and CE.
• Strong customer-service skills.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of plant equipment.
• Full driving licence with ≤3 points.
• NPORS card.
• CPC qualification (evidence required).

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 1 HGV vehicles to deliver and collect telehandlers and plant across sites.
• Ensure loads are securely strapped and unloaded safely in line with health and safety regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report required maintenance.
• Liaise with customers and site personnel for smooth, timely handovers.
• Complete delivery and collection documentation accurately.

Class 1 Driver Job Overview

• Operate Class 1 HGV vehicles to deliver and collect telehandlers and various types of plant machinery across designated sites.
• Ensure all loads are securely and safely strapped, loaded, and unloaded in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and routine maintenance reporting to ensure roadworthiness and prevent downtime.
• Liaise with customers and site personnel to ensure smooth, timely, and professional equipment handovers.
• Complete delivery and collection documentation accurately and maintain clear records in line with company procedures.

Class 1 Driver Job Requirements

• Experience in a similar position.
• Good time keeping skills and self-motivated.
• Driver DIGI Card.
• LGV Licence category C + CE.
• Excellent Customer Service skills.
• The ability to speak and write a good standard of English.
• Demonstrate a full and varied knowledge of all plant.
• In possession of a full, valid Driving Licence with no more than 3 points.
• NPORS Card.
• An update to date CPC record (evidence will need to be provided).

Class 1 Driver Salary & Benefits

• Overtime paid at time and a quarter.
