Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Claims Handler in Bristol. This hybrid role combines office presence three days a week with remote work, managing claims from first notification through settlement.

You will engage with customers, brokers and external partners to drive outcomes with attention to policy terms and coverage assessments. You will contribute to a regulated claims process, ensuring accuracy and compliance while building technical exposure across coverage, liability, reserving, and claims

Qualifications

• Experience or technical knowledge of insurance claims lifecycle from FNOL to settlement.
• Understanding policy wordings, coverage principles and liability assessment.
• Awareness of FCA requirements, consumer duty and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Handle claims from FNOL through to resolution and settlement or closure.
• Review policy terms, coverage and claim documents to support decisions.
• Provide clear updates to customers and brokers, maintaining professional communication.
• Coordinate with TPAs, adjusters and suppliers involved in the claim.
• Maintain audit-ready claim files with attention to regulatory compliance.
• Monitor reserves and settlement strategy to support informed decisions.

Role Summary:

This is an opportunity to join a busy claims function and manage insurance claims from first notification through to settlement or resolution.

You'll take ownership of claim outcomes, work closely with customers, brokers, adjusters and suppliers, and build broader technical exposure across coverage, liability, reserving and claims decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage claims from FNOL through to resolution: Build end-to-end claims experience while taking ownership of outcomes
• Review policy terms, coverage and claim documentation: Develop stronger technical judgement around coverage and liability decisions
• Communicate with customers and brokers: Build trusted relationships while providing clear and professional claims updates
• Liaise with TPAs, adjusters and suppliers: Gain exposure to the wider claims process and external stakeholders
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready claim files: Strengthen your understanding of regulatory, data and compliance requirements
• Monitor reserves, indemnity spend and settlement strategy: Develop commercial awareness and intelligent claims decision-making

Requirements:

• Experience or technical knowledge of insurance claims, including the claims lifecycle from FNOL through to settlement
• Understanding of policy wordings, coverage principles and liability assessment, with familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules and the litigation process
• Awareness of FCA requirements, Consumer Duty, data protection and fair customer outcomes
• Confident communication, organisation and claims-system skills, with the ability to manage workloads and escalating complex matters appropriately
