Job summary

Davies is seeking an experienced Claims Handler to join the Casualty team in Glasgow on a 12-month fixed term, full-time basis. The role involves handling major client claims with training provided to support you from day one.

You will liaise with insurers, gather evidence, investigate claims, and prepare reports while maintaining strong customer service and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in managing Claims from cradle to grave.
  • Experience managing Property Claims.
  • Experience with the investigation of Liability Claims.

Responsibilities

  • Liaison with insurers, policyholders and brokers.
  • Investigate allocated claims and refer to field adjusters when needed.
  • Gather evidence and documentation for each claim.
  • Determine actions to resolve cases and prepare detailed reports.
  • Negotiate settlements within authority limits.
  • Maintain proactive correspondence with all parties.

Our Opportunity: 12 month fixed term contract

Davies is on the lookout for an experienced Claims Handler to enhance our growing Casualty team. This role offers a stimulating environment where the selected individual will be joining a committed team, providing a first-class proactive claims handling service to major clients.

We at Davies hold in high regard the transferable skills and attributes that you can contribute to the position. Although having a background in the industry is advantageous, it is not essential as we will provide you with full training and support when you start with us.

What will your day look like:
  • Liaison: Communicate with insurers, policyholders, and brokers.
  • Investigation: Handle allocated claims, either from your desk or by referring them to a field adjuster for on-site investigation when necessary.
  • Evidence Gathering: Obtain all relevant evidence and documentation.
  • Resolution: Determine appropriate actions to resolve each case.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports, advising on policy indemnity, legal liability, quantum, and tactics as needed.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate settlements within agreed authority limits.
  • Professional Correspondence: Maintain proactive communication with all parties involved.
  • Adherence to Procedures: Handle cases according to documented procedures and client requirements.
  • Reserve Management: Regularly review and maintain proper reserves.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on technical changes relevant to your role, including participating in company facilitated training programs.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in managing Claims from cradle to grave.
  • Experience managing Property Claims.
  • Experience with the investigation of Liability Claims.
  • Knowledge of how to value injury claims.
  • Understanding of Civil Procedure Rules and the Claims Portal.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Management of personal caseload.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and versatility.
Desirable:
  • Experience in managing Employer’s Liability (EL) & Public Liability (PL) claims.
  • Familiarity with reserving strategies.
  • Exceptional communication abilities across various levels.
