Job summary

Howden, a global insurance group, is seeking a Claims Broker to join the Superyacht Claims team, handling complex yacht-related claims and advocating for clients.

You will work across international teams in Southampton, London, and the Howden US team, negotiating settlements, maintaining records, and delivering exceptional client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience handling marine, yacht or complex liability claims within the insurance market.
• Demonstrable experience negotiating claims with insurers and other market participants.
• Experience building relationships with clients, brokers, insurers, surveyors and legal professionals.

Responsibilities

• Handle and negotiate a broad range of yacht claims, including Hull & Machinery, P&I and Crew Welfare matters
• Advocate on behalf of clients to achieve fair and timely claims outcomes
• Negotiate settlements with insurers, lawyers, surveyors and other key stakeholders
• Support yacht owners and their representatives throughout the claims lifecycle, providing expert guidance and market insight
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in Southampton, London and the wider international business, including the Howden US team
• Maintain accurate claims records and ensure adherence to market processes and systems
• Analyse claim information and financial data to support effective reserve management and settlement negotiations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and industry professionals
• Identify opportunities to improve claims outcomes, service delivery and client experience across the portfolio

The Role

As a Claims Broker, you'll join Howden's growing Superyacht Claims team, supporting clients across a global portfolio of yacht-related claims. Who we're looking for

• Proven experience handling marine, yacht or complex liability claims within the insurance market
• Demonstrable experience negotiating claims with insurers and other market participants
• Strong understanding of claims advocacy and delivering positive client outcomes
• Experience working with market systems and claims handling processes
• Proven ability to manage multiple claims matters simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
• Experience building relationships with clients, brokers, insurers, surveyors and legal professionals
• Exposure to international claims environments or global client portfolios would be advantageous
