Job summary

NRL Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil Setting Out Engineer for a major nuclear infrastructure project in Cumbria on an initial 12-month contract. The role focuses on accurate setting out, survey control, and interpretation of design drawings on a highly regulated site.

Qualifications

• Proven setting out experience on major civil/infrastructure projects.
• Experience with total stations and GPS/GNSS.
• Strong knowledge of drawings and technical specifications.
• Site safety and QA procedures knowledge.
• Qualifications in civil engineering, surveying, or setting out.

Responsibilities

• Carry out accurate setting out for civil works including foundations and drainage.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks and benchmarks.
• Interpret drawings and technical specifications to guide works.
• Perform topographical and as-built surveys and dimensional checks.
• Operate surveying equipment such as total stations and GPS/GNSS.
• Verify setting out against design drawings and manage discrepancies.
• Collaborate with site managers and subcontractors to deliver works.
• Maintain survey records, setting out data and QA documentation.
• Ensure compliance with ITPs and engineering standards.
• Support quality inspections and resolve on-site technical issues.
• Adhere to health, safety and nuclear-specific requirements.
• Report deviations from design, tolerances or specs.
