Job summary

Ecclesiastical Insurance UK is seeking an Underwriter in Gloucester to support church customers with underwriting activities, including enquiries, renewals, building works and risk management surveys.

You will join the Church Operations Department and contribute to the right-first-time service ethos, balancing workload, relationships, and regulatory compliance while pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational skills to plan and manage workloads.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle confidential data.
• Proactive, customer-focused and capable of delivering continuous improvement.
• Effective communication skills, including written and verbal.
• Good understanding of regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Profitably underwrite and negotiate new and existing business within authority limits, aligned to company strategy.
• Plan, prioritise and manage workload to meet SLAs and deliver excellent service.
• Build and maintain strong relationships through effective communication and a right-first-time approach.
• Operate within regulatory requirements, identify and elevate risks, and respond to audit feedback.
• Continuously develop knowledge through training and industry engagement.
