Job summary

ACS Staffing Solutions in Manchester is seeking a Registered Children's Home Manager to lead a 3–6 bed therapeutic residential home. The role requires shaping a safe, nurturing environment while ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering outstanding care.

You will recruit, supervise and develop a team of residential workers, maintain safeguarding standards, manage referrals and placements, and oversee budgets. A Level 5 Diploma or progress toward it is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a children’s residential home or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding.
• Proven ability to recruit, train and manage a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a 3–6 bed therapeutic children’s home.
• Register with Ofsted and ensure compliance with the regulations.
• Create a safe, therapeutic environment promoting positive outcomes.
• Lead, motivate and develop residential staff to deliver outstanding care.
• Oversee safeguarding and manage concerns effectively.
• Manage staffing, supervision, training and performance.
• Maintain quality assurance, audits and compliance across the service.
• Build relationships with local authorities, placing authorities, social workers, families, education providers and professionals.
• Manage referrals, admissions and placement matching to meet young peoples’ needs.
• Oversee budgets and resources for the home.
• Champion a trauma-informed approach to support children with complex needs.
• Drive continuous improvement toward Good/Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Job description

Role: Registered Children's Home Manager

Location: Manchester

Hours: Full Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

Salary: £53,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

What will you be doing?

• Taking overall responsibility for the leadership, management and development of a 3- 6bed therapeutic children's residential home.
• Registering with Ofsted and ensuring the home operates in line with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment that promotes positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Leading, motivating and developing a team of residential support workers, seniors and deputies to deliver outstanding care.
• Ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of all practice and that concerns are managed appropriately and effectively.
• Managing staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and performance management.
• Monitoring and maintaining quality assurance processes, audits and compliance standards across the service.
• Building effective relationships with local authorities, placing authorities, social workers, families, education providers and other professionals.
• Managing referrals, admissions and placement matching to ensure the needs of young people can be successfully met.
• Overseeing budgets and resources to ensure the effective operation of the home.
• Championing a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to support children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
• Driving continuous improvement and striving towards achieving and maintaining a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Experience/Qualifications Required:

• Minimum Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
• Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Senior Manager within a children's residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding legislation and children's residential care standards.
• Experience supporting children and young people with EBD, trauma, attachment difficulties and complex needs.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
• Experience managing budgets, compliance and operational performance.
• Full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle.
• Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory employment references.
