Job summary

Health Recruit Network is seeking an experienced OFSTED Registered Manager for a trauma-informed children's home in Northampton. You will lead day-to-day operations, ensure safeguarding standards, and develop a skilled care team to provide high-quality care to young people with complex EBD.

The role requires at least 2 years as Registered Manager in residential childcare, formal qualifications (NVQ Level 5 or equivalent) and a strong track record of maintaining GOOD OFSTED ratings.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager in children's residential care.
  • Experience in a home rated GOOD by OFSTED.
  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare or pursuing this qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of childcare legislation and OFSTED standards.
  • Ability to lead and develop a residential childcare team.

OFSTED Registered Children’s Home Manager

Location: Northampton

Salary: Up to £62,000 + bonus

Job Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are working alongside a well-established provider who is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a trauma-informed children’s home supporting young people with complex Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an important leadership position, responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, the quality of care provided to young people, and the development and leadership of the care team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of residential childcare and safeguarding and will be confident in maintaining high standards of care, compliance and practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take overall responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the children's home.
  • Lead, motivate and support a dedicated care team to provide high-quality care.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and professional environment for both young people and staff.
  • Provide effective leadership, direction and support to the team.
  • Conduct and contribute to staff supervisions, appraisals, team meetings and ongoing professional development.
  • Support the recruitment, induction and development of staff within the home.
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure that the welfare of young people remains central to all decision-making.
About You
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager in children's residential care.
  • Experience working within a children's home that has achieved at least a 'GOOD' OFSTED rating.
  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or currently working towards this qualification.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
  • Good knowledge of children's safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong understanding of relevant childcare legislation, regulations and OFSTED standards.
  • Experience of managing and developing a residential childcare team.
  • Experience of care planning, safeguarding, incident management and risk management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lead calmly and effectively in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Full UK driving licence.
