Vetro Recruitment is seeking a compassionate Relief Support Worker to join our client in Pontyclun, South Wales. The role offers flexible shifts and the chance to support children and young people in their daily activities and outings.

You will promote independence, provide emotional and practical support, and help keep care plans up to date while working in a supportive social care environment. Competitive hourly pay of £14.24 plus holiday pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or in social care (min 6 months).

  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness and domestic abuse and their impacts.
  • Crisis response awareness and emotional resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people in daily routines and activities.
  • Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children.
  • Support weekend and evening activities from climbing to baking or trips.
  • Promote independence and overall wellbeing.
  • Protect children from health and safety risks.
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the home.
  • Keep care plans and safety guidelines up to date.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents.

Our client, a leading specialist social care provider, is seeking compassionate and adaptable Relief Support Workers to join their team in Pontyclun. As a Relief Support Worker, you will support children and young people in their daily activities, outings, and special events, helping to promote their independence and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting children and young people in their daily routines and interests
  • Attending weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
  • Supporting and participating in weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins
  • Promoting the young person's independence and overall wellbeing
  • Protecting children and young people from health and safety risks
  • Providing emotional and practical support within the home environment
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of care plans and safety guidelines
  • Assisting in managing challenging behaviour and minimising incidents effectively
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or within a social care setting (minimum 6 months)
  • Strong relationship-building skills and resilience in challenging situations
  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness, domestic abuse, and their impacts
  • Crisis response awareness and emotional resilience
  • Empathetic, caring, and adaptable nature
  • TMVA - Restraint Training certificate or willingness to undergo training
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
