Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Children's Support Worker for a client in Usk, Monmouthshire, South Wales. You will support children and young people to achieve their full potential within a residential care setting.

You will work flexible shifts, including day shifts and waking nights, with weekend activities and driving responsibilities. DBS check, TMVA/PMVA training, and the right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

  • 6 months’ experience with children or within a similar social care setting.
  • TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undergo a 3-day course).
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people in daily activities and interests.
  • Promote independence and wellbeing through personalised care plans.
  • Attend weekends away, holidays and trips to provide consistent support.
  • Engage in weekend and evening activities to enrich the children’s experiences.
  • Ensure safety and welfare by following care guidelines and risk assessments.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to help children overcome challenges.
  • Support behaviour management strategies and minimise incidents.
  • Attend outings and residential trips with the children.

Salary: £14.24 - £28.48 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Employment Type: Temporary, with option for Temp to Perm

Our client, a leading provider of residential care services in Usk, Monmouthshire, is seeking dedicated Children's Support Workers to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting children and young people in all aspects of their daily activities and interests.
  • Promoting independence and wellbeing through personalised care plans.
  • Attending weekends away, holidays, and trips to provide consistent support.
  • Engaging in weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking, to enrich the children’s experiences.
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of young people by adhering to care guidelines and risk assessments.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to help children overcome challenges.
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and minimising incidents when behaviour is challenging.
  • Attending and supporting children during outings, activities, and residential trips.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • A genuine desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting.
  • TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undergo a 3-day course).
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • The right to work in the UK.
