Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Children’s Support Worker to assist children in residential homes in Gloucestershire. You will work in a 2:1 staff-to-child setting and support daily activities and outings, including weekends away and trips, while promoting independence and wellbeing.

Candidates should be empathetic, resilient, and committed to safeguarding. A TMVA restraint certificate and a valid UK driving licence are required, with DBS checks and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate empathy, resilience and genuine care for vulnerable children.
• Ability to work in a 2:1 staffing ratio with other staff.
• Must have good communication and listening skills.

Overview:

• Title: Children's Support Worker
• Pay: £14.25 - £28.48 inclusive of holiday pay
• Location: Gloucestershire
• Time: 10:00am- 23:00pm, Day shifts, 23:00pm - 10:30am night shifts

What you’ll be doing as a Childrens Worker:

• To support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests
• Restraint Trained, or be willing to undergo the 3 day course.
• To promote the young persons independence and wellbeing
• To attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the Children
• To attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.
• To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
• To provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
• To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
• To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.

What you’ll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker

• A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
