Job summary

Vetro Social Care in Wales is recruiting a Children's Support Worker for Residential Services in Bargoed. You will work 2:1 with children and colleagues to support daily activities and ensure safety in a home setting.

Requirements include a UK Driving Licence, TMVA restraint training, and an Enhanced DBS. Shifts run 10:00–23:00 and nights, with weekly pay, holiday pay, and access to training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience working with children or in social care settings.
• TMVA restraint training certification.
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in day-to-day activities and interests.
• Promote independence and wellbeing of young people.
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the Children.
• Support weekend and evening activities to match their interests.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety.

Overview:

• Title: Children's Support Worker
• Pay: £14.25 - £28.48 inclusive of holiday pay
• Location - Bargoed
• Time : 10:00 - 23:00 sleep - 10am. Days 10am 10pm, and Nights 10pm - 10am

What you’ll be doing as a Childrens Worker:

• To support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests
• Restraint Trained, or be willing to undergo the 3 day course.
• To promote the young persons independence and wellbeing
• To attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the Children
• To attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.
• To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
• To provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
• To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
• To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.

What you’ll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker

• A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
