Job summary

Vetro Social Care is recruiting Children's Support Workers in Wales to support children in residential Homes, working 2:1 with staff. The role runs 10am–10pm (or 10am–Sleep–10am) in Ebbw Vale, UK, and requires a driving licence.

You will deliver day-to-day care, promote independence and wellbeing, and accompany children on trips and activities while maintaining safety and up-to-date care plans. Training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or within a similar social care setting (minimum 6 months).
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate or willingness to complete the 3-day course.
• Valid UK Driving Licence.
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in day-to-day activities and interests.
• Provide emotional and practical support and ensure safety and welfare.
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children.
• Participate in weekend/evening activities alongside the children’s interests.

What you'll be doing as a Childrens Worker

• To support the children and young people in all day to day activities and interests
• Restraint Trained, or be willing to undergo the 3 day course.
• To promote the young persons independence and wellbeing
• To attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the Children
• To attend weekend and evening activities to support the children and young people in their interests. This can range from climbing and baking cakes to weekends away in Butlins.
• To protect the children and young people from any risks to their health and welfare
• To provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
• To ensure the safety of young people by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
• To support, overcome and learn to minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging.

What you'll need to have to be a successful Childrens Support Worker

• A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
• Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
• At least 6 months experience of working with children or within a similar Social Care setting
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate
• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
