Your role as a Children’s Support Worker involves working closely with children in care, prioritizing their needs in all aspects of your work. Your daily responsibilities will include supporting children in their education, hobbies, and activities.

Responsibilities of a Children’s Support Worker:

  • Supporting, safeguarding, and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Assisting with daily routines, which may include community and educational settings
  • Organizing and facilitating social activities
  • Providing transportation when needed
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe practices
  • Offering high levels of supervision and support
  • Working in compliance with Ofsted and CQC regulations
  • Managing complex behaviours and crisis situations
  • Contributing to care plans and risk assessments, including reviews and updates

Requirements for a Children’s Support Worker:

  • A minimum of 12 months post-qualification experience working with children and/or young adults
  • Candidates must be over 21 years old to meet industry regulations
  • Knowledge in areas such as EBD, SEMH, CSE, or SEN/SEND
  • Diploma Level 3 in Children’s and Young People, with Level 4 being desirable
