Job summary

Cambian Group plc is seeking a Registered Manager for a Ofsted-rated GOOD children’s home in Trimdon Colliery. You will lead care planning, staff development and safeguarding, ensuring tailored support for each young person within a supportive, compliant framework.

The role offers a comprehensive induction, leadership development training and a sustainable career path within CareTech’s family of services. A driving license and UK residency are required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years in residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to start within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong planning, organizing, budgeting, resource allocation and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Understanding trauma and the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
  • Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Comprehensive Care Plans tailored to each young person’s education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
  • Build and develop a strong, capable team with effective induction and personal development plans.
  • Foster consultation with young people about their care.
  • Allocate Key Workers to implement care plans.
  • Maintain high standards in line with quality standards and the Home’s Purpose.
  • Handle complaints and safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals to safeguard welfare.
  • Participate in care planning and review meetings.
  • Embrace a safe culture ensuring high-quality care across the service.

As a Registered Manager of this Ofsted rated GOOD home you will:
  • Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
  • Develop a great team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home. Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
  • Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
  • Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
  • Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
  • Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
  • Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
  • Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
Essential Requirements and Experience
  • Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
  • Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to start within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Efficient in; planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
  • Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
  • Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Driving License: Full UK required.
