Job summary

Cambian in Shrewsbury is seeking a Registered Manager to lead our two-bed residential home for young people, delivering tailored care and safeguarding. You will develop care plans, recruit and supervise the team, and collaborate with families and professionals to secure the best outcomes.

Essential experience includes at least 2 years in residential childcare with supervisory responsibility, and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or be willing to start

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years in residential care of children, with supervisory experience in the last 5 years.
  • Knowledge of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong planning, budgeting, resource allocation and team leadership skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Comprehensive Care Plans tailored to each young person’s needs (education, health, social, therapeutic).
  • Build and lead a high-performing care team with recruitment support.
  • Implement and monitor care standards in line with Home statements and quality standards.
  • Consult with young people, families and professionals to promote welfare.
  • Attend care planning and review meetings and ensure safe, positive culture.

Develop a great team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home.

Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.

Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.

Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.

Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.

Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.

Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.

Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.

Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.

Essential Requirements and Experience

Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.

Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to start within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.

Skills: Efficient in; planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.

Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.

Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.

Driving License: Full UK required.
