Job summary

Cambian is seeking a Registered Manager for a two-bedroom children’s home in the Wigan area. You will develop individualised care plans, lead a dedicated team, and drive continuous improvement to meet Ofsted expectations.

The role offers a salary up to £50,000 with a strong bonus and development opportunities. Essential criteria include the Level 3 in Children's Residential Care and at least 2 years in residential care with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people in care.
• Relevant experience: at least 2 years in residential care with supervisory exposure in the last 5 years.
• Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care is essential.
• Level 5 qualification preferred or enrolled within 6 months of start.

Responsibilities

• Develop Comprehensive Care Plans tailored to each young person.
• Build and lead a strong home team with recruitment support.
• Complete induction and ongoing personal development plans for staff.
• Foster consultation with young people about their care.
• Assign Key Workers to implement care plans and monitor outcomes.
• Maintain high standards in line with Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations.
• Handle complaints and safeguarding concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals to promote welfare.
• Attend care planning and review meetings as appropriate.

As a Registered Manager our expectation is that your home will be rated as at least “Good” by Ofsted

This is a two bedroom Children’s Home with one settled young person who is thriving, where you will:

Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.

Develop a great team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home to ensure your success.

Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.

Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.

Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.

Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.

Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.

Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.

Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.

Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.

Effective Commercial Management of your home: Ensure you manage your home aligned to budget expectations.

Essential Requirements and Experience

Passionate about making the difference to the lives of young people in care.

Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.

Qualifications: Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care is essential.

Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application, if not then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.

Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
