Job summary

Health Recruit Network is seeking a Residential Support Worker for a Children's Home in Doncaster. You will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people, assisting with daily routines, education, activities and emotional wellbeing.

The role includes day and night shifts, sleep-ins where required, and aims to create a safe, nurturing environment while promoting independence and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Resilient, empathetic and reliable.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence held for at least 12 months.
  • Minimum age 22 due to legislative requirements.
  • Able to work a flexible rota including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
  • Previous experience with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting individuals with EBD/SEMH/Autism/LD.

The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in a residential home. You'll help create a safe, nurturing, and stable environment while supporting children with daily routines, education, activities, emotional wellbeing, and independent living skills. This is a varied role involving both day and night shifts, where you'll become a trusted adult and positive role model for the young people in your care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, child-centred care and emotional support.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Support education, appointments, activities, and daily routines.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Maintain accurate daily records and reports.
  • Support safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk reduction.
  • Carry out household duties to help maintain a safe, welcoming home environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Participate in sleep-ins and shift work, including evenings, weekends, and nights where required.
