Job summary

Refresh Recruitment Group Limited is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a residential children's home in Chard, Somerset. The role requires driving excellence in care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on trauma-informed outcomes for children and young people.

You will oversee a committed team, ensure high standards, manage audits and inspections, and maintain comprehensive records.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence.
• Minimum 12 months' experience in a management position.
• At least 2 years' experience in the last 5 years in a residential children's home.
• Strong safeguarding procedures knowledge and relevant legislation.
• Proven leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the Residential Children's Home.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team delivering trauma-informed care.
• Build positive relationships with children and young people who have experienced trauma.
• Oversee audits, Regulation 44 visits, Regulation 45 reports, and Ofsted inspections.
• Review and maintain children’s records, safeguarding docs, and care plans.
• Manage safeguarding concerns and report to agencies including LADO, MASH, Ofsted.
• Line manage staff, provide supervision, and cover on-call duties.
• Submit Regulatory Notifications when required.
• Promote a culture prioritising children’s welfare and outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and policies.

Registered Manager – Residential Children's Home

Location: Chard, Somerset

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility required to meet the needs of the business)

Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to join a growing and child-focused organisation in Chard, Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to manage a residential children's home, supporting children and young people through a trauma-informed approach while driving positive outcomes and maintaining the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the Residential Children's Home.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team committed to delivering outstanding care through a trauma-informed approach.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people who have experienced trauma.
• Complete and oversee audits, Regulation 44 visits, Regulation 45 reports, and Ofsted inspections.
• Review, update, and maintain children's records, incident reports, safeguarding documentation, and care plans.
• Ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed appropriately and reported to relevant agencies, including LADO, MASH, and Ofsted.
• Line manage, mentor, and support staff through supervision, probation reviews, and ongoing development.
• Manage staffing levels and participate in the on-call rota.
• Submit Regulatory Notifications where required.
• Promote a positive culture that prioritises children's welfare, development, and achievement.
• Ensure the home operates in accordance with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and company policies.

About You

Essential Requirements

• Full UK Driving Licence.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 or Level 5 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or currently working towards the qualification.
• Minimum of 12 months' experience in a management position.
• At least 2 years' experience within the last 5 years working in a residential children's home.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and participate in an on-call rota.

Desirable

• Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager.
• Experience achieving positive Ofsted outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
