Job summary

Purosearch Ltd is recruiting a Deputy Manager for a 5-bed EBD residential children’s home in Hartlepool. The role requires leadership of shifts and staff, safeguarding compliance and high-quality care for children and young people.

You will support the Registered Manager, oversee daily operations, and ensure documentation and care plans meet standards. A Level 3 Diploma and driving licence are essential, with a flexible, shift-based work pattern including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in residential childcare.
• Previous supervisory or senior support experience.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and childcare legislation.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Flexible to shift work including evenings and weekends.
• Full UK Driving Licence held for at least 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the overall management of the children’s home.
• Lead shifts and oversee the daily operation of the service.
• Supervise, support, and develop residential care staff.
• Ensure high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance are maintained.
• Assist with care planning, risk assessments, reviews and case conferences.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through child-centred care practices.
• Support behaviour management and emotional wellbeing strategies.
• Participate in the staff rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required.
• Act as the lead person in the absence of the Registered Manager.
