Job summary

Purosearch Ltd is recruiting for a Deputy Manager role in Derby (Derbyshire). The position focuses on leading a Children’s Residential Home, ensuring high standards of safeguarding, care delivery and staff supervision.

The role requires supervisory or management experience in children’s residential care, strong knowledge of safeguarding, and a solid understanding of relevant regulations. A Level 4 Leadership & Management diploma and safeguarding lead qualification are preferred, with DBS and

Qualifications

• Experience in children’s residential care including supervisory/management experience.
• Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
• Solid understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead by example and drive service performance.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in achieving and maintaining a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
• Support day-to-day operational management of the home.
• Provide supervision, support and direction to staff.
• Assist with staffing, rotas and maintaining staffing levels.
• Ensure staffing aligns with the Statement of Purpose and risk management plans.
• Safeguard and promote the physical and emotional needs of children and young people.
• Monitor care, education and risk management plans.
• Operate the home in line with regulatory frameworks and internal audits.
• Be a positive role model with integrity and compassion.
• Develop a child-centred and therapeutic environment.

Salary: £35,620 per annum
Home Size: 2 Bed EBD

Salary & Benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in achieving and maintaining a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
• Support the day-to-day operational management of the home.
• Provide supervision, support and direction to staff.
• Assist with staff deployment, rotas and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
• Ensure staffing arrangements meet the Statement of Purpose and individual risk management plans.
• Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of care, education and risk management plans.
• Monitor the home using the Social Care Common Inspection Framework and internal auditing processes.
• Act as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, optimism, hope, determination and compassion.
• Support the development of a positive, child-centred and therapeutic environment.
• Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, local authority procedures and company policies.
• Support staff performance, development and professional practice.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, professionals and external stakeholders.
• Assist with identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate action plans.
• Support the Registered Manager with the overall operation and development of the home.
