Our client, Sgscare, is recruiting a Deputy Manager for a Children’s Residential Home in South Shields. The role leads day-to-day operations, supports the Registered Manager, and drives high-quality care for children and young people aged 5–18 with diverse needs.

You will oversee staff teams, care planning, and regulatory compliance, while deputising for the manager during absence and contributing to staff development and improved outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care or equivalent desirable.
• Training and enrolment onto relevant qualifications provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the home.
• Lead and motivate Residential Childcare Practitioners and Senior Residential Childcare Practitioners.
• Ensure children receive high-quality physical, emotional and social care.
• Support care planning, admissions and reviews.
• Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
• Assist with staff recruitment, induction, supervision and identifying training needs.
• Maintain effective staffing levels and rota management.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, local authorities and external professionals.
• Participate in the on-call rota and provide leadership in the Registered Manager's absence.

40 hours per week, with flexibility to cover shifts and participate in the on-call rota.

Qualifications Required

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. Training and enrolment onto relevant qualifications will be provided.

Experience Required

Minimum 6 months' experience in a relevant field is desirable but not essential. Experience within an Ofsted regulated children's home is advantageous.
