Job summary

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Head of Patient Safety to lead safety initiatives, embed PS systems, and support executive leadership in delivering high-quality, safe care. The role requires senior expertise and strategic influence across services.

You will drive safety culture, oversee PSIRF implementation, and engage staff, patients, and partners while deputising for the Deputy Director of Nursing when needed. Flexible/agile and on-site work are involved.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient safety science (human factors, systems thinking, investigation, QI).
• Experience driving improvement in quality and safety of patients.
• Specialist knowledge aligned with national patient safety syllabus and NHS strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership for patient safety and investigations.
• Develop and deliver the Trust’s patient safety strategy.
• Lead the Patient Safety Team and foster openness and continuous improvement.
• Advise Board and executive on safety issues, risks and improvements.
• Oversee response to National Patient Safety Alerts and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
