Job summary

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a senior leader to head patient safety, providing expert support to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement across services. The role focuses on embedding safety systems, supporting the executive team, and aligning responsibilities with the NHS Patient Safety Strategy.

You will lead a team, engage with staff and partners, and ensure robust systems for safety across the Trust while working with the Deputy Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent senior qualification in a health, safety or related field.
• Strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Registered healthcare professional status or equivalent senior experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership for patient safety, investigations and improvement programmes.
• Develop and deliver the Trust’s patient safety strategy aligned with national policy.
• Lead the Patient Safety Team and promote a culture of openness and learning.
• Advise the Board on safety issues, risks and improvement approaches.
• Oversee National Patient Safety Alerts and ensure robust compliance systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders regionally and nationally to support safety networks.
• Design and deliver multi-professional patient safety training and PSIRF implementation.
• Ensure effective staff, patient and partner engagement in safety activities.
• Deputise for the Deputy Director of Nursing as required.
