Job summary

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Head of Patient Safety to lead safety strategy and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement across services. The role requires executive-level collaboration, complex governance, and strong engagement with staff, patients, and partners.

The post blends agile working with on-site presence across bases, and involves deputising for the Deputy Director of Nursing when required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent senior level qualification.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and safety standards.
• Experience influencing senior clinicians and working with NHS bodies.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership for patient safety, including investigations and improvement programmes.
• Develop and deliver the Trust's patient safety strategy aligned with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the Patient Safety Team and foster a culture of openness and learning.
• Advise the Board on safety issues, risks and improvement approaches.
• Oversee responses to National Patient Safety Alerts and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across regional and national networks.
• Design and deliver multi-professional patient safety training and PSIRF implementation.
• Ensure communication with staff, patients and partners; deputise for Deputy Director of Nursing as needed.
