Job summary

BaxterStorey is seeking a Chef Manager to lead the kitchen in Dunstable, Monday to Friday 7am-3pm. The role offers a salary around 32k with employer-provided benefits and development opportunities.

You will oversee menu planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and cost control while ensuring safety and high standards of service. This is a hands-on leadership role within our culinary team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience commensurate with the role.
• Excellent creative culinary skills.
• Leadership and team management abilities.

• Proficiency in food cost management.
• Knowledge of food safety and health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Menu planning and execution; oversee food preparation and presentation, monitor wastage and portions.
• Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen and FOH staff; provide coaching and feedback.
• Inventory and cost control; manage stock levels and ordering.
• Interact with customers to understand catering needs and maintain open communication for feedback.
• Support health and safety compliance and food safety policies across the kitchen.
• Develop and manage kitchen budgets; report on financial performance and implement cost savings.
• Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate ideas into menus.
• Maintain records of inventory, orders and food preparation processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
