Job summary

Balfour Hospitality, part of Balfour Winery, is seeking a Chef de Partie for The Winemaker’s Pub in Goudhurst. You will support the Head Chef to maintain quality, consistency and presentation of seasonal British dishes and estate wines.

You will help develop junior team members and contribute to a warm, welcoming kitchen environment while working flexible hours and benefiting from staff discounts and wellbeing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Passion for all things food and good presentation.
• Food hygiene qualifications and awareness of safety standards.
• Attention to detail in food specification, cooking methods and invoicing of food.
• Positive approach to engaging team and bringing fun to the pub.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef in development and smooth kitchen operations.
• Ensure quality, consistency and presentation of dishes.
• Mentor junior team members as you gain experience.

Part of Balfour Winery and set in the nearby village of Goudhurst, Balfour Winemaker’s Pub is our traditional local with wine at its heart. Rooted in English wine, British cooking and a strong sense of home, it sits alongside The Winemakers’ Kitchen and the Cellar Door as one of three ways to experience Balfour across the estate. This is English wine in its most natural setting: a welcoming, generous pub where guests can return time and again for seasonal British dishes, estate-only wines by the glass, and a relaxed overnight stay in one of four boutique bedrooms. As Chef de Partie you will support the Head Chef in the development and smooth running of the kitchen. You are very keen to ensure quality, consistency and presentation of our food. You are also someone who is starting to share their knowledge with more junior members of the team.
