Job summary

Sysco GB in Reading is seeking a Canteen Chef to prepare fresh meals in a busy Brakes depot kitchen, serving up to 150 colleagues daily. You’ll cook, assist with menu planning, and manage till duties in a fast-paced environment.

We have an opportunity for a Chef to work in our kitchen and canteen to serve fresh food to our colleagues and on-site visitors at our Brakes depot in Reading.If you have previous experience cooking and food handling and currently searching for greatcareer opportunity and new direction – you’ll go far with us.

You'll be responsible for preparing food ingredients, assisting in the cooking process and maintaining a clean and sanitary food preparation area. On a typical shift you can expect to be cooking simple meals for up to 150 internal colleagues. This is a varied role where you will be able to assist in the planning of menus,setting up catering events as and when necessary and rota organisation. You'll undertake cashier duties and be responsible for operating a till for contactless payments. We work as a team to all undertake cleaning and washing up in the kitchen and dining areas.

As Canteen Chef you will need previous kitchen experience in cooking and food handling in a fast paced time pressured commercial kitchen environment. You will require an ability to pick new skills up quickly both in the kitchen and on a computerusing Microsoft office. If you have excellent customer service skillsalong with at least a level 2 food hygiene certificate and a level 2 HACCP we want to hear from you.Previous card payment experiencewould be advantageous but don't worry is not essential and we can teach you the basics required for the role.You'll have a desire to learn and understand more about the business; approaching tasks with both an ability to think on your feet for problem-solving and a positivecan-do attitude
