Job description

A leading independent property and building consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Chartered Project Manager to join its growing London development and project consultancy team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an MRICS-qualified Project Manager, ideally from a Building Surveying or technical background, to work on a varied portfolio of high-quality commercial property projects.

You will be responsible for delivering projects from inception through to completion, working closely with investors, developers, landlords and occupiers across the commercial office, residential, retail and industrial sectors.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing a range of refurbishment, alteration, extension, fit-out and new-build projects, typically ranging from £1m to £50m.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing full project management services from feasibility through to completion.


• Managing investor-led refurbishment, added-value and new-build schemes.


• Acting as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent where required.


• Managing project teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.


• Developing project briefs and assembling appropriate professional teams.


• Driving projects through feasibility, design, procurement and construction stages.


• Monitoring programme, cost, quality and risk throughout the project lifecycle.


• Providing clear and accurate client reporting.


• Advising clients on contractual and project-related matters.


• Applying a strong working knowledge of JCT contracts, including extension of time and loss & expense claims.


• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.


• Identifying opportunities for repeat business and new instructions.


• Supporting the growth and development of the project management service.


• Contributing to business development, networking and marketing activity.


• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced MRICS-qualified Project Manager with a strong technical understanding and proven experience delivering projects within the commercial property sector.

You will ideally have:

• MRICS qualification, preferably from a Building Surveying or related technical background.


• Strong experience delivering commercial property projects.


• Experience across refurbishment, alteration, extension and fit-out projects.


• Experience managing projects typically ranging from £1m to £50m.


• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts.


• Experience dealing with extensions of time, loss & expense and other contractual matters.


• Experience acting as Contract Administrator and/or Employer's Agent.


• Excellent report writing and client communication skills.


• Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.


• Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify new opportunities.


• Experience managing project teams and external consultants.


• A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to project delivery and business development.


• The confidence to operate directly with senior clients and stakeholders.


• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
