Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior registered nurse keen to enhance their management and clinical skills and support the senior nursing team in coordinating patients for cataract surgery within NHS Fife and other Scottish health boards, as NHS Fife progresses into a centre of excellence for Cataract surgery.

The Ophthalmology department in NHS Fife is seeking a Charge Nurse to join our team working across multiple sites, including Queen Margaret Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Randolph Wemyss Hospital, and Adamson Hospital.

Main duties include:
• Being professionally accountable for maintaining standards as per NMC Code and relevant guidelines.
• Maintaining clinical oversight of the cataract unit and outpatient areas, ensuring high standards of patient-centred care.
• Supporting the ongoing professional development of departmental staff.
• Acting as a clinical nurse leader to promote teamwork and high-quality evidence-based care.
• Coordinating the patient journey for cataract surgery across NHS Fife and other Scottish health boards.
• Supporting junior staff with specialist ophthalmic skills.
• Demonstrating leadership and decision-making skills.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Relevant post-registration clinical experience.
• Proficient in current IT techniques.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ophthalmic skills including Biometry, visual acuity, OCT, and Icare.
