Victoria Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Practitioner/Trainee Nurse Practitioner within the Pre-assessment suite at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to support the Senior Charge Nurse in delivering a clinically effective service preparing patients for admission for surgery. The role is primarily Monday to Friday, depending on service needs, with potential work at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

The pre-assessment nurse practitioner is an autonomous practitioner supporting the Senior Charge Nurse, working closely with Nurse Practitioners, Consultant Anaesthetists, and Surgeons to manage waiting list patients for elective surgical and orthopaedic procedures. The nurse practitioner will provide high-standard, individualized patient care by conducting comprehensive medical assessments, physical examinations, and managing ongoing medical needs to facilitate planned surgical admissions.

The role involves assessing, evaluating, and optimizing patients' health preoperatively, coordinating admission planning with surgical/orthopaedic wards and theatres, and initiating discharge planning. The nurse practitioner is encouraged to develop and expand the role to meet patient and service needs.
