Job summary

Leicestershire County Council invites applications for the Centre Support Assistant role based at Braunstone Town and Wigston Magna Family Hubs. You will greet visitors, handle administrative tasks, manage room bookings, maintain resources, and keep databases up to date while ensuring health and safety standards are met.

You will support family interventions, require safeguarding knowledge, and travel between hubs using a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in literacy and numeracy or relevant administration experience including reception duties, message taking and relaying, maintaining record systems, producing electronic reports and correspondence, computerised data entry and using spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and importance of confidentiality, and effective communication via social media.
  • Numeracy skills to collate statistical information and literacy skills to produce high quality written materials for varied audiences.
  • Clear communication skills including a good telephone manner and the ability to engage with parents, young people, and children.
  • Ability to work with a range of professionals and practitioners as part of a team.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, and Outlook; produce accurate work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors to the centre and support colleagues with administrative tasks.
  • Manage the electronic room booking system and set up rooms, maintain resources, and update databases and electronic records.
  • Perform health and safety checks and report issues; support group interventions and safeguarding knowledge.
  • Use of a vehicle to travel between Family Hubs is required.
  • An enhanced DBS check with barred list is required for this post.

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: Main Base – Braunstone Town Family Hub, Kingsway North, LE3 3BD, along with Wigston Magna Family Hub & Huncote Family Hub

Salary: £26,853 - £27,282 per annum (pro rata for part time )

Working Hours:35 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Closing Date: 17th September 2026

About the Role

As a Centre Support Assistant, you willbe the welcoming face of our Family Hubs, greeting all visitors to the centre. You will support colleagues by undertaking administrative tasks including managing the electronic room booking system, setting up rooms, maintaining and ordering resources, updating databases and electronic records.

You will also be required to undertake health and safety checks to ensure that the centre and its grounds are fit for purpose, reporting issues where necessary. You may also be required to support the delivery of group interventions with families, young people, and children, therefore safeguarding knowledge is essential.

Use of a vehicle is essential, to enable travel between our Family Hubs.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

  • Be able to work with a range of professionals and practitioners as part of a team.
  • Be competent in usingMicrosoft Office applications including Word, Access, and Outlook. Be able to produce accurate work to deadlines.
