  • You must be able to travel across Leicestershire and sometimes further afield, and work outside normal office hours when required.
  • Experience of working with children and families in a social care setting, and an interest in children's social care.
  • Knowledge of factors impacting well-being and outcomes for children and families.

The Children in Care Service have a vacancy for a permanent, part-time Support Worker to join our friendly team.

About the Role

The team's work includes supervising family contact visits when parents are visiting children who are looked after, providing practical assistance to support Social Workers, children, and families to support in undertaking identified Life Story Work and Direct Work.

As a team, we are committed to achieving the best outcomes for Leicestershire children. The role involves overseeing family time in a variety of settings including family centres, community venues and family homes, observing parental care, supporting safe contact and promoting positive family relationships.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Evidence of child care training.
  • Experience in an administrative role, together with a commitment to providing high-quality, accurate, and timely support to colleagues and service users.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience of using Microsoft Office and database systems. You will be able to communicate confidently and effectively with a wide range of people, including children, young people, parents/carers, colleagues, and partner agencies.
  • The ability to work independently, use your initiative, prioritise competing demands, and manage workloads effectively.
  • You must also be able to travel to locations across Leicestershire (and occasionally further afield) and work outside normal office hours when required.
  • Experience of working with children and families in a Social Care setting or similar, together with a genuine interest in and commitment to learning more about children's social care.
  • Knowledge of the factors that can impact the well-being and outcomes of children and families, including child development, attachment, neglect, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health.
